Certifications - RoHS

To Our Valued Customers:

In response to the compliance directives of the "EU" European Union #2002/95/EC legislation regarding "RoHS" elimination and restriction of hazardous substances (chromium, cadmium, lead, and mercury), we are pleased to inform you that Fastbolt Corp. can immediately provide for your fastener compliance to this criteria.

a) Chromium; common to seal zinc plating in its derivative form of colored hexavalent chromates, would be excluded from product content and replaced with trivalent coatings on zinc plating (colored to suit). Fastbolt Corp. has conducted salt spray test studies, and established a thickness index for desired salt spray hour corrosion resistance of former hexavalent zinc standards.

b) Cadmium; common to plating of military specification fasteners, would be excluded from product content, and replaced with alternate platings that provide equivalent or greater salt spray corrosion resistance at customer directive.

c) Lead; common to tin/lead plating for desired solder ability, would be excluded from product content and replaced with "electro tin" (lead free) or silver plating at customer directive.

d) Mercury; an element uncommon to our normal fastener supply business, if encountered would be excluded from product content. Testing and certification as to the absence of mercury in product can be provided if required, as in submarine application hardware.

Fastbolt Corp. recommends that all customer procurement contracts (purchase orders) state the required use of trivalent zinc, electro tin, or silver (as applicable) to provide your compliance of RoHS criteria. Further we suggest supply lots be required to have supporting plating process certification (for review of all recipients) for interim transition period, during which Fastbolt Corp. will be marking product shipment documents/labels as "RoHS Compliant".
